UPDATE: Juan Gabriel's death certificate was released. Cause of death was arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Contributing factors were hypertension and diabetes mellitus. He also had a history of pneumonia. He died at 11 Marine Terrace Rd in Santa Monica. His legal residence is in the US at his home at Southwest Ranches, Broward, Florida.

Alberto Aguilera Valadez also known as singer, musician, Mexican icon Juan Gabriel was born January 7, 1950 in Paracuaro, Michoacan, Mexico. His father was Gabriel Aguilera Rodriguez a farmer (April 10, 1908 to April 1950). His mother was Victoria Valadez Rojas (1912-December 27, 1974).

His siblings were Gabriel Aguilera Valadez, Jose Guadelupe Aguilera Valadez, Pablo Aguilera Valadez Rafaele Aguilera Valadez, Miguel Aguilera Valadez, Rosa Aguilera Valadez, Virginia Aguilera Valadez Dedomacio (1932-2004).

Alberto Aguilera Valadez aka Juan Gabriel had four boys with his "best friend" Laura Elena Salas Campas. His children are Ivan Gabriel Aguilera (1988), Joan Gabriel Aguilera (1989 El Paso, Texas), Hans Gabriel Aguilera (June 30, 1990 El Paso, Texas), Hans Gabriel Aguilera (1990 El Paso, Texas) and Jean Gabriel Aguilera (1991).

Juan Garcia's father was married once before he married Juan's mother. Gabriel Aguilera Rodriguez married Amelia Campos on April 9, 1924 in Jacona, Michoacan, Mexico. Her father was Dionicio Campos. Her mother was Josefa Saavedra. They separated and both married again.

Below is the 1930 census for Parácuaro de Morelos, Parácuaro, Michoacán, Mexico. Start at line 62 and go down. It starts with father J Guadalupe Aguilera as head of the family. Below that is his wife. Below that is Juan Garcia's father, his wife, his mother in law, siblings. When you get to the next "x," that's another family. His father is listed as "arriero" which is a mule packer. His mother is listed as a "domestica" maid. They were married civil and in the church. They both can read and write Spanish.

Juan Gabriel passed away in Santa Monica, California August 28, 2016. I'd met him a few times at local restaurants, events and he was always very nice and cordial. While my family and I knew who he was as we grew up with his music others did not. That's probably why he spent a bit of time here in California.

Robert A Rockstad better known as "Rip" passed away peacefully in his sleep September 8, 2015 at his mother's home in Long Beach, California at the age of 48. He died of natural causes caused by sudden cardiac arrest caused by cardiomyopathy caused by acute alcohol intake. Rip was the youngest of six children born to Robert "Rocky" Rockstad Sr and Shirley Irene Nielsen.

Rip was born and raised in Long Beach, California. He graduated from Lakewood High School in 1985. He was a surfer, animal lover, process server, drummer, music lover, mega KISS fan, proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous and lover of life. He had many friends in the real world and Internet world as you can see by the outpouring of love on his Facebook page. He will always be remembered for his fantastic sense of humor, love of animals and love for his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Arup Rockstad, Florence Thomas, George Nielsen, Gladys Thornton, father Robert A Rockstad and his sister Patty. He is survived by his mother Shirley Nielsen, sisters Cathie, Dana, Debbie, Jill, nieces, his dogs, cats and Eddie the crow.

I knew Rip through animal rescue for many years. I would help him with wildlife he rescued.

There was a paddle out for him October 3, 2015 at Sunset Beach. There was a private memorial service on the same day. "Paddle out" is a surfing tradition where you get on your surfboard and paddle out to the deceased person's favorite surfing spot. You sit on your boards in a circle holding hands while you talk, think, pray about your dearly departed friend.

Ben Woolf "Meep" of "American Horror Story: Freak Show" passes away from head injury - Mary Cummins

Ben Woolf who played the part of "Meep" in "American Horror Story: Freak Show" television series succumbed to head injuries from an accident last week in Hollywood. Born Benjamin Eric Woolf September 15, 1980 in Fairfield, Iowa died February 23, 2015 in Los Angeles, California.

Ben suffered from pituitary dwarfism also called growth hormone deficiency. He studied early childhood development in Santa Barbara and was a pre-school teacher.

He is survived by his mother Marcy P Woolf Luikart, stepfather Ralph Luikart, sister Kathryn Woolf and his dog Lisa all of Santa Barbara, California.

He is proceeded in death by his father Herman "Hy" Orlov an insurance salesman (August 11, 1924 - April 29, 1970) and his mother Rosalyn Gordon Orlov who started Nama Custom Designs (November 22, 1926 - May 5, 2000). Both of his parents were born in Illinois to parents who emigrated from Russia.

I'd known Rick since 2000 when I started following Los Angeles politics especially in regard to Animal Services and animal issues. He was always so very nice and helpful. As a reporter he was thorough, honest and fair. He did so well in his 30 years as a reporter because he was kind, honest and kept his promises to sources.
