Who was Kat Perkoff, Ellen DeGeneres' first love? Kathe Ruth Perkoff, Family, parents, life - by Mary Cummins

"Kat was a poet and a waitress working at a bar in the French Quarter of New Orleans. On June 26, 1980 Kat Perkoff died in a white Mercedes after it veered off a highway, hit a concrete bridge support and split cleanly in half. Kat's high-drama, high-impact death was in some way an inexorable conclusion to a life lived with voracious and feverish intensity. In her brief 23 years, Kat Perkoff inhabited many personae: runaway, drug smuggler, gay bar manager, writer, local icon, and key player in the murky underworld of the New Orleans lesbian mafia-a demimonde populated by pimps, prostitutes and corrupt cops. Even for the fast lane of the French Quarter in the early 1970's, Kat's life hurtled along at several times the average speed. The official report of the New Orleans Police Department states that Kat's death was caused by accidental collision. But rumors at the time pointed to a hit, mafia score, and a police cover-up."

Her sister Rachel made a feature-length documentary about Kat called "Another Lost Angel" in 2008. Below is the trailer of that feature. Survived by her mother Katheen Jeanne Pynes Perkoff Hebert b. 1937, father Whitney Charles Walker (1933-2001 married Dec 21 1955 in Louisiana), younger half sister Rachel Delia Perkoff and ex-husband Andrew Colangelo (married 1975 in Florida). Kat was the first love of Ellen DeGeneres.

Kat Perkoff's death was the inspiration for DeGeneres' comedy monologue about mortality called "Phone Call To God" which she did on "The Tonight Show" starring Johnny Carson in 1986. In it she pretends to be  on the phone to God, chatting about the surreal qualities of death. It would go on to propel her to stardom. Just two years later Ellen was named the funniest person in America.

Below is the pedigree of Kathe's family tree. Her half sister Rachel obviously has a different paternal line which I also made but isn't included here. Kathe "Kat" was the daughter of Whitney Walker based on marriage and birth date.

Ellen DeGeneres sells Brody house for $55M for $15M profit - Mary Cummins Real Estate Appraiser in Los Angeles, California

A few months ago I wrote an article about Ellen DeGeneres buying the Brody House down the street from me. She just sod it for $55M for a quick $15M profit. Here is my original article about the house with photos.

"Ellen DeGeneres just flipped the amazing house she bought around New Year's -- after only living there a few months -- and the buyer was Napster co-founder Sean Parker ... who opened his wallet wide.

The Brody House -- yes, the place is so baller it has a name -- was sold to Parker for $55 million ... which means Ellen made a tidy $15 mil profit. She bought it for around $40 million. We're good at math.

We're told Parker approached Ellen and Portia late last month with the offer ... he went nuts over the famous house and Ellen's interior design. We're told even though she never intended to flip the house, she couldn't refuse a good deal. The escrow was all of 8 days. It closed last Thursday.

Ellen and Portia quickly snatched up the entire floor of a condo in Beverly West (fancy schmancy condo near Bev Hills) for $16 mil ... combining two units for new digs. But when they want real space, they'll go to their mega-estate is Santa Barbara."

Fake ads on Facebook, Blogger, Google. Mary Cummins, real estate appraiser

Ray Liotta is suing a company who is used fake photos of him without permission to sell their skin cream. Every day in my newsfeed I get a ton of fake wrinkle cream ads using celebrities images with fake before and after photos without the celebrities permission. Generally they use Ellen DeGeneres as the fake model. I've also seen ads for weight loss. They use images of Oprah Winfrey and photoshop them so the before is super fat and after is super, crazy skinny. Everyone knows that Oprah is not skinny. Ellen is not totally wrinkle-free. I think Ray is just the first one to sue here. Celebrities don't have the time to sue these companies who sell fake products that don't work. The outcome will be interesting.

I recently wrote about these wrinkle, weight loss advertising scams that sell fake products with a money back guarantee. The scam is they ask for only shipping and your credit card number. Then they keep charging your card over and over. Here is that article about the scam. If you see a product that sounds too good to be true, i.e. "look 20 years younger over night!" "lose 30 pounds in three days!" "money back guarantee" "you only pay shipping," ... beware. Those products don't exist. Below is a fake Facebook ad I got. They randomly use a Facebook photo that is tagged with keyword "wrinkles."

Ellen DeGeneres just bought the Brody House at 360 S. Mapleton down the street from me for $40,000,000

Supposedly Ellen Degeneres just bought the Brody House at 360 S. Mapleton, Los Angeles, CA 90077 few blocks south of me. The Brody House and commissioned by philanthropist art lovers Sidney and Francis Brody and designed by architect A. Quincy Jones and interior designer Billy Haines. I almost bought one of his smaller homes on Tigertail ten year ago.

A. Quincy Jones' style is unique. It's a very open floor plan with lots of floor to ceiling windows. From the MLS description which is also linked below. This is from a sale from ten years ago. It just sold as a pocket listing. It backs up to the golf course so no rear neighbors. I went to a few events at this house. It is located directly adjacent to the Playboy Mansion, see plat map below.
