UPDATE: 02/21/2017 "The Otis elevator heir who took a pickax to Donald Trump's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame cut a deal in his felony vandalism case and he won't spend a day behind bars.
James Otis pled no contest to the vandalism charge and was placed on 3 years probation.
He was also ordered to pay the Hollywood Historic Trust and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce a total of $4,400 ... presumably the cost of repairing the damage and replacing portions of the star.
Otis must also do 20 days of Caltrans work ... possibly picking up trash by the freeway.
He did the deed October 26, 2016, to protest then-candidate Donald Trump."

11/17/2016 James Otis was just charged by the DA with felony vandalism. He could be looking at three years in jail though I doubt he'll get any because he's rich. James Lambert Otis of the Otis Elevator family was arrested for destroying Donald Trump's star on Hollywood Walk of Fame. James Otis was arrested at 7:45 a.m. October 27, 2016 by LAPD Hollywood Division. James Otis had planned to have a press conference then turn himself in to police. LAPD had other ideas.

James Otis stated he destroyed Donald Trump's star to send a message against sexual assault. Otis stated he would auction off the remains to raise funds for women's groups. Otis doesn't realize it's illegal to sell stolen property. He also could go to jail besides having to pay a fine and replace the star.

My personal feelings are they should say they are going to replace the star but never actually do it. We really don't need Donald Trump's star on the sidewalk here in Hollywood. People were vandalizing his star almost daily. Everyone was spitting on it.

Robert Tieger who died in house fire at 4057 Sea View, Mt Washington is convicted criminal

UPDATE: 04/21/2017 Robert's parents were Julius and Jene Tieger from Austria. They were Jewish. They came to the US via Canada. Julius sold women's clothes. Here is Robert's updated FAG memorial page. Robert has a younger brother Joseph Samuel Tieger. Robert used the names of his fly members in some of his schemes.

01/25/2017 Human remains were found at the property. Looks like he didn't fake his own death. Here is the coroner's report. He died 10/20/2016. His remains were found 01/25/2017. He was 81 when he died, not 82. It was a demolition site not a construction site.

His ex-wife is still alive. I received some info and turns out he had a daughter named Jennifer born in 1967. She died in 1990 in Torrance. Robert had three other children, Elizabeth Watters, David H and Todd D all born in the late '60's in LA. After Jennifer divorced Robert she moved to Torrance with the kids.

12/06/16 Just spoke with someone familiar with Robert Tieger and the house. This new information makes it even more suspect that perhaps Tieger feigned his own death to get away from lawsuits, judgments and his horrible reputation.

The upper level of the house was the dining room, kitchen. The floor under that was where Tieger's bedroom was located. That level and the one beneath it had back doors which led to patios and out of the house. If Tieger were trapped by smoke in the lower levels, he could have still been able to exit the property.

A woman who had dogs said Tieger went back in to rescue dogs and never re-emerged. An ex-tenant stated that doesn't really match Tieger's disposition. Tieger only cared about personal financial gain for himself. He ruled his house with an iron fist. If he wanted you to leave, he'd hire a man to beat you until you left. He would walk around like he was a Don.

Tieger owned a few cars. He had a red Mercedes, a Mercedes SUV, a smaller Mercedes, a Volvo and the Toyota pickup truck. The ex-tenant said if the expensive cars were not at the home and not burned, it would seem to indicate that his death may be suspect.

I was told by a neighbor that there was a truck loaded up with Tieger's belongings and some appliances. I would think if that loaded truck was burned, he may have died. If the truck left the property, he most likely survived. Even though I feel if the loaded truck was burned, that could have been set up to make it appear that he died. Now if the Mercedes were burned, then he could be dead. It'd be great if the police or arson investigators could search for his cars and belongings. With Tieger's history, I would not put it past him to fake his own death.

10/28/2016 I was originally alerted to this item because a friend lives nearby and had been reporting the home, owner and illegal tenants. My friend told me that Mark Self was one of the tenants the day after the fire. I heard of Mark Self as many people reported him and his treatment of his dog to Animal Advocates. We investigated in 2013. While what he was doing with his dog was unethical, kinda gross, it wasn't a crime. My first article on this fire was actually about Mark Self and his dog.

I then decided to look into the owner of this large home. Why would someone with a home like this rent it out to ex-homeless people with major criminal records who are clearly mentally ill? I thought it must be a financially desperate person which it was.

I did not reveal earlier but there was another maybe arson case involving a home of Robert Tieger. LAFD said it was "suspicious." There were lawsuits about fire insurance. I have a feeling but no physical proof yet that Robert Tieger was leaving as he was being evicted. His house was sold at foreclosure auction September 6, 2016. Robert wouldn't want to be legally evicted because it'd be on his record. I just saw a post saying his automobile was packed as if he was moving. I think an original account said his auto was in the driveway. If so, maybe he is dead. If his truck with personal property and some dogs were gone, then I might think Robert faked his death to get away from his past. Investigations and time will show what really happened. Crazy LA story.

Robert Tieger who is believed to have been killed in a house fire was a convicted criminal. Because of his past I wonder if the dead body in the house is his or not. He was convicted for mail fraud, real estate fraud, finance fraud .... He was also a dog breeder who sold puppies online. He was just arrested last month. The man embodies everything that I despise.

Below is from just one real estate deal gone bad. As I researched his cases this is one of many. What a horrible person. He also used many AKA pretending to be his relatives, women and others. Despicable.

FACTS

On August 5, 2003, Robert Tieger sold residential real property to Keith and Gwendolyn Cole for $753,000.[1] The parties signed both a purchase agreement with escrow instructions and a lease so the Coles could rent the house from Tieger from the date of the agreement to the anticipated escrow closing date (December 31). The Coles gave Tieger a $2,000 deposit with the purchase agreement, plus $15,000 in rent and $10,000 as a security deposit (with the rent and deposit to be applied to the purchase price and closing costs). The Coles moved into the house and spent more than $20,000 for various improvements (new carpets and tile) and repairs (heating and plumbing).

In October, the Coles received a title report and learned for the first time that the property was the subject of a lawsuit.[2] On further investigation, the Coles discovered that the property was in fact owned by Carliss and Perfisity McGhee (collectively McGhee), not by Tieger, McGhee having obtained title by a judgment for specific performance rendered against Tieger in September 2002 (almost a year before Tieger purportedly sold the property to the Coles).[3] In February 2005, the Coles were evicted from the property by McGhee.

Meanwhile, in January 2004, the Coles had sued Tieger for specific performance, breach of contract, fraud, and unjust enrichment. Tieger answered, and later filed a separate action against the Coles for rent due from January to November 2004. The cases were consolidated and tried to the court, at the conclusion of which the court found that Tieger had not disclosed any information about the McGhee lawsuit and had affirmatively misrepresented that he possessed good title to the property (knowing that he did not), that the problem with Tiegers title was not discovered by the Coles until October 2003, that R & T Properties is Tiegers alter ego (and vice versa), and that the Coles were entitled to compensatory damages in the sum of $291,150 (less $19,500 due to Tieger for unpaid rent), plus $250,000 in punitive damages.[4] Tieger appeals from the judgment thereafter entered (which includes a $37,000 attorney fee award in favor of the Coles).

He was also convicted of postal fraud.

As you can imagine he lost his real estate license. He had his license revoked. He begged to get it back twice, did get it back, was convicted of fraud again, lost it, then begged to get it back again. After the second time they said no.

This home has had many building and safety violations. It was listed for sale as a short sale. It's been in default for years. They just had a foreclosure sale. One owner may have been Robert Tieger and Qian Zang. They keep filing quit claims. At the time of the foreclosure sale there was $2.5M owed when they were trying to sell it for $999K.
