Michael John Avenatti was born in Sacramento, California February 16, 1971. His father is William John Avenatti b. 1936 in Los Angeles, California who worked at Anheuser-Busch for 31 years until retiring. The family moved around a lot for his job. His mother is Marcene Wilson b. 1935 born in Jones, Texas. She graduated from Southern Methodist University in Texas in 1956. She had two previous husbands. Michael has two siblings, Francene and Vincent E Avenatti.

Michael's paternal grandfather was John Avenatti 1910-1975 born in Los Angeles, California. He was a furniture upholsterer. Later in life he taught people how to upholster furniture. He stated that men, women of all ages and races can upholster furniture and make a good living. He received awards as an instructor.

Michael's paternal great grandfather was Agostino Avenatti 1883-1973 born in Italy. He was a blacksmith then upholsterer then worked for the city in the Bureau of Sanitation. His great grandmother was Madelene Moiette 1886-1971 born in Italy.

Paternal grandmother was Katharine Poggetto 1913-2007 born in Riverside, California. Her parents were Angelo Poggetto 1861 - 1956 and Carmelina Bobbio 1877 -1935 both born in Italy. Michael's ancestry is half Italian on his father's side.

His mother's side is a bit more mixed all from Texas and Tennessee. His maternal grandfather was Clarence Woodrow Wilson 1914 - 1995 in Texas. He graduated from the University of Texas in El Paso. Maternal grandmother was Francis Lula Watkins 1915 - 1971. They were both born in Texas.

Parents of Clarence Wilson were John Duke Wilson 1877 - 1969 and Taitha Cumi 1882 - 1951 both born in Tennessee. Parents of Francis Watkins were William Wesley Watkins 1882 - 1961 and Mittie Prince Thrasher 1896 - 1970 born in Texas and Tennessee respectively. They were farmers.

A little more work and he is indeed half Italian on the father's side. The mothers side is Texas and Tennessee. The mother's family goes well into the slave era.
