03/09/2017 Key Kim is being sued in civil court by a few parties. There are four lawsuits. Key Kim is suing Toyota. Father of Castillo suing Key Kim. Mother of Castillo suing Key Kim. A pre-trial hearing was set for today in El Monte, California for the vehicular manslaughter case of Key Jaison Kim who accidentally killed George Steward and Sabrina Castillo October 15, 2015. Key Kim, 69, pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor counts of vehicular manslaughter in an open plea to the court. The open plea means a sentence was not negotiated with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, according to officials.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Donna Hollingsworth sentenced Kim to five years of probation, 800 hours of community service and ordered him to complete multiple programs, including the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Victim Impact Program. His driver's license was also revoked for five years. He was not drunk and was not charged with drunk driving. He merely mistook the gas pedal for the brake which is a common cause of car accidents in some elderly people. MADD is just the main organization that provides the Victim Impact Program.

"Pedal error" is a common cause of accidental deaths in car accidents with the elderly. We all remember the horrific Santa Monica Farmers Market pedal error crash. I'm sure this was probably the worst in the US if not the world. My stepfather had a pedal error accident at the age of 86.
