Mary Cummins, Hollywood Park, Willy Shoemaker, makinanhonestbuck winner, horse racing

Many years ago I went to the track on Friday and Saturday nights. We'd all sit at RD Hubbard the owner's table. I never gambled. I later realized that horse racing is actually cruel. I no longer go.

I actually remember this time at the track. My birthday is December 17. After the race we went to the sport bar next door which had horse betting from around the world. You could bet on any race in any country from here. When it was midnight RD said "Happy Birthday, Mary!" Then he gave me a winning ticket on a horse race in Japan I think. I said "thanks!" without looking at it. The ticket was worth $1,400!
