The two gamers killed were Elijah Clayton, 22, and Taylor Robertson, 27.




David Katz, 24, born December 22, 1993, lost a round in a video game competition. He went to his car, retrieved two semi-automatic weapons, returned to the competition and shot two of his rivals besides shooting at others. Two people have died. Others are injured. David Katz then turned the gun on himself. Here is what we know so far.

David Katz' father is Richard Bruce Katz, 58, in Baltimore, Maryland. He attended the State University of New York and worked for Goddard Space Flight Center and NASA. He has a masters degree in engineering. His mother is Elizabeth Jane Levine Katz, 60, has a PhD in toxicology and works for the FDA. They married in 1998 and divorced in 2007. David has an older brother, Brandon Katz, 28 who also had "significant medical problems and needs" resulting in "extraordinary medical expenses." In a 2012 filing Elizabeth sought a motion to change the health insurance status of their two children.

David Katz had been treated at the Sheppard ratt hospital in Towson twice for mental illness before his parents divorced. David Katz reportedly graduated from Hammond High School in 2011. He began studying at the University of Maryland in September 2014, majoring in environmental science and technology. He was not currently enrolled in college.
