I was reading some articles about the passing of Elie Wiesel. I noticed people have the wrong names and dates. I did some research to get the correct names and dates of his family.

Elizer "Elie" Wiesel was born in what is now Romania September 30, 1928 and died July 2, 2016 in New York. His father Schlomo Wiesel was born in Romania October 10, 1900. He died in Germany January 29, 1945 at a concentration camp. His mother was Sarah Feig born 1905 in Romania died in Auschwitz Death Camp 1944.

Elie Wiesel had three sisters. His younger sister was Tzipora Wiesel born 1937 in Romania and died in a Death Camp 1945. He had two older sisters. Hilda Wiesel was born August 28, 1922 in Romania. His sister Beatrice "Bea" was born January 1, 1925. His older sisters survived the war, Holocaust. Bea moved to Quebec, Montreal. Hilda moved to France.

Elie Wiesel married Marion Erster Rose April 2, 1969 in Israel. Marion was also a Holocaust survivor. Marion was born January 27, 1931 in Vienna, Austria. June 6, 1972 they welcomed a son Shlomo Elisha Wisel. They lived in Conneticut then New York. Marion has a daughter named Jennifer Rose born approximately 1967 from a previous marriage.

In 1955 Elie Wiesel wrote French book "La Nuit," "The Night." It was later translated into English and many other languages by his future wife Marion Rose. He received a Nobel Peace Prize for his book in 1986. I had the good fortune to meet him a few times when he was here in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles for events.

Below is a simplified family tree. Thanks to the Jewish Holocaust Survivor List printed in Sharit Ha-Platah in 1946 and the Dachau, Germany Concentration Camp Records 1945.
