UPDATE 07/01/2018 He'll may be released in 2053. It was stated that if DNA proves the child is his, he can be charged with aggravated sexual assault of a minor. 11/27/2017 Trial was cancelled. Christopher Derleth pleaded guilty to two criminal counts. He pleaded guilty to aggravated kidnapping of a child under 13 who is intellectually disabled. Six years in prison with credit for time served. He pleaded guilty to child abduction, lure child, victim under 17 years of age. Three years to run concurrently. They don't mention anything about him having sex with the child or being the father of the baby.
He is in state prison. This mentions sex with a child and perjury. The two cases were in different counties. His sentence for having sex with victim under 13 is 40 years in prison. The DA read the victim's statement in front of the judge. You can check on his status here.

"The charges of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and aggravated criminal sexual assault in Bond County are both Class X felonies, with possible sentencing ranges of three years to life in prison, if convicted. The predatory assault charge alleges that between June 1 and Oct. 25 of 2015, Christopher Derleth had sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13. The aggravated criminal sexual assault charge alleges the same offense between Oct. 26, 2015 and Sept. 1, 2016, and in doing so, he caused bodily harm to the girl.
The perjury count, a Class 3 felony, alleges that on Feb.17, 2015, Christopher Derleth made a false statement in an affidavit to the court in an adoption case. He allegedly claimed he had never been been arrested and charged with criminal offenses, knowing he had been in Madison County, in 1994 and 1999 cases. Despite having a criminal background, Christopher Derleth was able to adopt his two stepdaughters, Katherine and Amber, last year in Bond County Circuit Court.
The charge of aggravated kidnapping in Madison County describes 4-foot-8, 95-pound Katherine as suffering from “severe or profound intellectual disability” and that the the 6-foot-1, 160-pound Christopher Derleth “knowingly and secretly confined” the baby. It’s a Class X felony that carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison."

10/07/2016 Major update coming soon. There will be new clarifications. For now here are a few.
Katherine Elizabeth Derleth was born October 26, 2002. This means she was 13 in January of this year. The baby was born in September. Katherine will be 14 in two weeks. The news programs which stated she was 12 at conception of the baby are incorrect. The twins are obviously not identical. Katherine has no mental incapacity but her sister does. Katherine was fully involved in running away from the foster home with her baby. Katherine believed the foster parents were going to take her baby so she asked Chris to come and get her and the baby.
The police are indeed investigating Jennifer Lynn Derleth. Earlier Jennifer Lynn stated that as soon as the baby is born she will flee the state with her daughters and grandchild. This is partially motivated by fear of being prosecuted for contributing to child abuse. Other family members knew something was wrong. The family had been reported a few times.
I see some articles posting about the incorrect "Jennifer Derleth." Jennifer Lynn Aitken Derleth is the mother of the twins. She was born 12/30/1976. There is another "Jennifer Derleth" which is the sister of Christopher Michael Derleth. The sister has nothing to do with anything that Chris or Jennifer Lynn did. People seem to be mixing them up in various articles. Just trying to distinguish between the two.
Chris Derleth was paid by the state to only babysit the twins. Chris did not babysit anyone else's children.
Jennifer Lynn Derleth was recently told by her doctor that she has to stop working. Jennifer had stopped working. Per sources Jennifer Lynn was fired from her previous jobs for stealing money. This has been reported by a few sources.
Jennifer Lynn was extremely jealous of Chris. This is why Chris no longer worked. Jennifer would get very upset at Chris if any woman talked to him at work. Chris stayed home and did the household duties.
10/05/2016:
New information! I always thought that Jennifer Lynn was not a good mother who probably had a drinking problem. That has been confirmed. It also seems that the media and police have the twins mixed up. Katherine does not have a severe mental incapacity. The other twin does who is now named Amber Morgan Derleth but who used to be Courtney Adams. Katherine is very mature for her age as she had to take care of her mother when the mother was passed out drunk. Katherine was even a cheerleader and did the chores around the house. Her name used to be Anna E Adams. I think that perhaps the mother released the photos of the wrong twin and stated she had a mental incapacity to try to make Chris look even worse.
The authorities had been called about the home situation numerous times. Friends on both sides of the family called. The stay away order was in April of this year. Chris had to move out and he did. He went to stay at another relative's house. Jennifer Lynn knowing there was a stay away order against Chris took the twins to go visit where Chris was staying a few times at different places. I personally feel that Jennifer Lynn is directly involved in what happened. She should also be held responsible.
Chris has admitted that there's a good chance he is the father of the baby. This means that he admitted to being with the girl who was 12 at the time.
It appears the mother Jennifer Lynn Derleth's previous husband was Stephen Adams per court records. In 2008 she tried to get a restraining order against him. In 2011 she filed for divorce as a pauper, i.e. she is penniless Case 2010D 000931. Children were involved. In 2010 Jennifer tried to get another restraining order against Stephen D Adams. "The Court finds that the Petitioner has alleged both abuse and good cause for the issuance of an Emergency Order of Protection." Both sides agreed to the restraining order. In 2010 both Jennifer and Stephen were evicted. I believe Stephen D Adams dob is March 31, 1968. I see a criminal record for assault on a police officer firearm involved. It appears that Jennifer wanted someone else to adopt the kids so her ex-husband would not have any custody rights. Otherwise he would have rights until they turned 18. That is why Jennifer got Chris to adopt the kids after her divorce. That last bit is speculation based on reading the divorce docs.
Chris waived extradition to Illinois. He should be sent from West Virginia to Illinois within the next few days. At the hearing Chris stated he didn't go past the 10th grade.
After this story broke I contacted the family members of Derleth. There was no reply. This morning someone else contacted me. They sent me clarifications. I am adding the clarifications to the top here and editing.
Turns out the Chris Derleth profile on Facebook was maintained by his wife and one of the kids. Chris wasn't interested in FB. That's why his Facebook sounds childish.
The person under 18 which Chris was charged with allegedly assaulting was Chris' girlfriend at the time who was four months younger than him. The video did not depict Chris having sex with the person. Chris was "fingering" her and she "smiled" on camera. Chris didn't take the video, a friend of his did. Chris allegedly didn't know the person was videotaping. The uncle of the girl was a cop. Another friend turned the video over to the cop uncle.
As to the charge of stealing a cop car, the cop left his car running with the door open. Chris was drunk, hopped in and drove only two feet. Chris admitted he was in the wrong.
Chris was not the person trying to expunge Chris' record. Chris' wife and another relative wanted the case expunged. Chris was against them wasting money to expunge his record. This is all according to source.
10/01/2016 More to the story. The previous conviction was for punching an officer and stealing his car. He also had a history of filming himself having sex with a teenager. Even with that background they let him adopt two young girls. The state was currently paying him to be a babysitter. I assume that's how the baby happened. Katherine suffers from “severe or profound intellectual disability.”
In 1994, 17-year-old Derleth was charged with two felony counts of child pornography involving the videotaping of Derleth having sex with a “minor female under 18,” according to records filed with his 2010 divorce case. The felonies were reduced to an obscenity charge, a Class A misdemeanor, and Derleth received court supervision.

Case keeps getting crazier. Mother knew Chris was the father. Mother was planning on taking Katherine and the baby far, far away out of state. For some reason Jennifer posted the new birth certificates of her kids after Chris adopted them. Mother's maiden name is jennifer L Aitken. Her mother's maiden name is Williams.

Allegedly the family confirmed that Chris is the father of baby Chris per this post. The video in question was on the reporter Grace's page. They accidentally used a pic of the sister.
I found his previous felony conviction. It was for damaging government property and battery which caused physical harm. He pled not guilty and was found guilty. He was just trying to get this expunged from his record. There was $7,500 in fees.

As I look at the docket he was charged with, Complaint 01 RECEIVE/POSS/SELL STOLEN VEH Dec 26,1999. He also assaulted a policeman, Complaint 02 AGG BATTERY/PEACE OFF/FIREMAN Dec 26,1999. He had a $75,000 bond. He had 18 months of probation. The state reduced all of his charges.
In the end August 8, 2016 Derleth withdrew his motion to expunge his record. He paid $60 to expunge and seal his record. I bet his attorney said he'd lose which is why he withdrew it. Then he went and committed this crime.

"The whole thing is sad and I know these people. The mom was my boss and she was fired for theft. The thing is he didn't kidnap her. She left willingly. That's his baby that's why DCFS removed them and they were under investigation. The mom is just as guilty she allowed her husband to share a bed with her daughter every night because "he was in love with her" so he slept with his wife's daughter instead of his wife. Hell the baby is named after him. Both of them should be rotting in jail

Based on Jennifer's Facebook pages she is racist against blacks. She attacks Obama saying "It's not because you're black. It's because you're bad at your job." She's also against abortion, obviously. She states it in her FB page.
Chris Derleth was arrested. Previously he was under investigation for juvenile abuse, "the Madison County charges refer to a 2016 Bond County juvenile abuse case against Derleth." That is why there was a restraining order, ordering him to stay away from Katherine. When he kidnapped Katherine and the baby that was a violation of the protective order besides kidnapping a minor, minor's baby and taking them across county lines.
"A devastated mother is pleading for her 13-year-old daughter and newborn grandson to return home safely.
Thirteen-year-old Katherine Derleth and her three week old son have been missing from Madison County since Sunday morning. They were last seen with Katherine’s stepfather, Chris Derleth, in West Virginia on Monday."
Early Sunday, investigators say Katherine's stepfather took Katherine and her baby, also named Chris, from a foster home near Edwardsville. A restraining order had been filed to keep him away from the teenage girl."

Why was there a restraining order against the father to keep him away from the girl? There was a criminal investigation into Chris before he kidnapped her. Why is the baby named after him?
Some good news. They found him, the girl and her baby. If I had any money, I'd bet it all Chris is the father of the baby. That means that girl was 12 when ... How revolting.

This will be developing into something big. Per Chris' Facebook page he is a very juvenile person.

Katherine Elizabeth, 13, is described as 4'8" tall, 95lbs with brown shoulder length hair and brown eyes. She is also known to have three birthmarks on her right knee.
Police believe Katherine is with her son, 2-week-old Christopher Ray Derleth. He was born 17 days ago and only weighs 8 pounds, three ounces with brown hair and dark eyes."
